His consulting practice draws on over 20 years of hands-on experience—including his current role leading advocacy initiatives for one of the nation's most innovative disability rights organizations.
Expertise in Action
Eric's day-to-day work as Advocacy Director at Detroit Disability Power demonstrates the breadth of his capabilities. He oversees policy initiatives, government relations, election protection, and the nation's largest accessible polling place audit program. He also serves as Founding Advocacy Director of Disability Action, DDP's 501(c)(4) sister organization—experience that directly informs his consulting practice in nonprofit structure, advocacy strategy, and compliance.
In October 2025, Governor Whitmer appointed Eric to the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Council. He contributes his expertise to several other key committees, including the Joint Evaluation Committee for Voting Systems for the State of Michigan, the Michigan AFL-CIO's Disability Rights Working Group, the Workforce Development Institute's Accessibility Committee for their Access for All program, and Wayne State University's Department of English Community Advisory Board.
Career Foundation
Eric's consulting expertise is built on a diverse career bridging electoral politics, labor advocacy, and social justice. He has led regional campaigns for the Michigan AFL-CIO, managed community empowerment programs at Focus:HOPE, and taught political science and philosophy at Saginaw Valley State University and Delta College for nearly a decade.

Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in English, Communications, and Political Science from Central Michigan University. His ongoing professional development includes specialized certificates in Disability Inclusion & Accessible Design (University of Michigan), Labor Leadership Development and Advanced Labor Academy (Wayne State University), and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Workplace (University of South Florida).

Since 2021, Eric has secured over $850,000 in funding for nonprofits including Focus:HOPE, Detroit Disability Power, SciAccess, and Scouting America through grants, RFPs, and fundraising events. Funding sources have ranged from local organizations like the City of Detroit and United Way of Southeastern Michigan to national funders including NASA, The Joyce Foundation, and Borealis Philanthropy.
An Eagle Scout and committed volunteer, Eric serves as Vice President of Volunteer Engagement on Scouting America's Great Lakes Division Executive Committee, Vice Chair of Alumni Events for the Eagle Scout Alumni of Michigan, and Chair of the George Meany Dinner. His service has earned him the George Meany Award, Council Alumni of the Year recognition, and James E West Fellow status.
Eric also volunteers as a grant writer with SciAccess and AstroAccess, advancing accessibility for people with disabilities in STEM fields and ensuring humanity's space future includes everyone.

A sought-after speaker on accessible elections and disability rights, Eric has presented at America Votes State Summit 2026, Detroit GIS Day 2025, and conferences for the United County Officers of Michigan, the National Association of Social Workers Michigan, the State Bar of Michigan, and the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks. He has testified before the Michigan Legislature and regularly provides expert commentary to media outlets.
