Eric brings over 20 years of expertise working with state and local candidates, PACs, ballot initiatives, unions, and nonprofits to achieve their electoral, legislative, political, and communications goals. He specializes in campaign finance compliance and personal financial disclosure at both the Federal level and within the State of Michigan.
His diverse career spans campaigns, policy, and social justice. Eric has led regional Labor-focused electoral and policy campaigns for the Michigan AFL-CIO and managed social justice and community empowerment programs at Focus:HOPE. His academic background includes nearly a decade teaching political science and philosophy at Saginaw Valley State University and Delta College.
Currently serving as Advocacy Director at Detroit Disability Power, Eric oversees policy initiatives, supervises election protection and education work, manages government relations, and runs the nation's largest accessible polling place audit program. He also helped establish DDP's sister 501c4 organization, Disability Action, where he serves as Founding Advocacy Director.
Recognized for his expertise, Eric currently serves on several influential boards, including the Michigan Bureau of Elections' Voting System Advisory Committee for Accessible Elections, the Community Advisory Board of Wayne State University's Department of English, and the Coalition Steering Committee for Detroit4Youth. He previously contributed his insights as a member of the Steering Committee for MI Rent is Too Damn High.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University where he studied English, Communications, and Political Science. His professional development includes a Certificate in Disability Inclusion & Accessible Design from the University of Michigan School of Social Work, a Labor Leadership Development Certificate from the Labor School at Wayne State University and a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida's Muma School of Business.
A committed volunteer, Eric serves as Vice Chair of Alumni Events for the Eagle Scout Alumni of Michigan and Chair of the George Meany Dinner, a partnership between Scouting America and the AFL-CIO. He also contributes to the Council Alumni Support Team for the National Alumni Association of Scouting America. His service to Scouting has earned him the George Meany Award, Council Alumni of the Year recognition, and status as a James E West Fellow.
Eric's volunteer work extends to grant writing with SciAccess and AstroAccess, organizations dedicated to improving accessibility for People with Disabilities in STEM fields and ensuring an inclusive space future for all.
Since 2021, through the pursuit of grants, RFPs and fundraising events, Eric has secured over $650,000 in funding for nonprofit organizations, including Focus: HOPE, Detroit Disability Power, SciAccess and Scouting America. He has successfully obtained funding from local, state and national organizations like the City of Detroit, the United Way of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan Voices, NASA, The Carter Center, the American Association of People with Disabilities, The Joyce Foundation and Borealis Philanthropy.
A respected voice in his field, Eric regularly serves as a presenter and panelist for organizations including the Henry Marsh Institute for Public Policy, the National Association of Social Workers Michigan, the Elder Law & Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks, the University of Michigan's Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program, GM Financial, and General Dynamics Land Systems.
